ORGANISATION REPORTS
Madginford WI members and several visitors celebrated Christmas in grand style. Party food and wine were excellent. Rich and mellow sounding entertainment was provided by Boxley Handbell Ringers. Their varied programme comprised a selection from Chimes; Thomas Tallis; to ‘sing along’ carols. Members also tried their hands at ringing, which led to great hilarity. Handbells, it is thought, were originally used for Church bell ringing practise.
The Lucky Dip Christmas Sack contained one gift (value £1) and one card from each member. The craft group were thanked for the handmade crackers and table decorations. Kent Air Ambulance will benefit from a donation from members, in lieu of them each exchanging cards.
Many plans for 2010 were discussed. The programme begins with an open meeting on Thursday 14 January, 8.00pm in Madginford Hall, Egremont Road, Bearsted, with a beetle drive and buffet at £5.
