8 MAIDSTONE HOSPITAL—FANT—TOWN CENTRE—MADGINFORD—DOWNSWOOD

From 18th September:

  • Buses will continue to run every 30 minutes between the Town Centre and Madginford and Downswood, but only one an hour will run through to Fant, Gatland Lane and Maidstone Hospital.
  • In the town centre, Service 8 buses will stop inside Chequers Bus Station at Stop J1 instead of at the stops in King Street. 
  • At Downswood end of the route, the buses will take a revised route, running from Ashford Road direct via Willington Street to Madginford Road and then the normal route through Madginford and Ashford Road back to the town. Customers for Madginford will therefore travel via Downswood first.

  • The 1551 hours Service 9 bus from Somerfield Hospital to Bearsted and the Service 19 back from Bearsted at 1635 will run only on school days.
  • Some Service 19 journeys will be retimed to improve connections for shop workers.


Kent County Council are responsible for all highways services Roadwork problems:

 Pot hole, footpath repairs and general maintenance

  • Street lights and signs that need replacing and repairing
  • Grass, shrubs and weeds on or near the highway that need cutting or clearing
  • Obstructions on footpaths and roads
  • Blocked road gullies
  • Flooding on the highway
  • Salting and gritting or roads
  • Snow clearance
  • Traffic light management problem

ROAD SALTING

All class A and B roads, busy commuter routes and danger spots are salted by the county's 65 winter service vehicles.
Routes in the parish that are covered can be found on the map below:

Salt bins are usually placed away from the main roads near danger spots such as steep hills.  They are there to help all road users, including pedestrians.  Residents are asked to use the salt to treat ice and snow on small areas of road or pathways.

IT IS NOT FOR USE ON PRIVATE DRIVES OR PATHS.


Consultation on the Kent County Council Household Waste Recycling Centre

The future of the Household Waste Recycling Centre service provided by Kent County Council for use by Kent householders is under review.

The aims of this review are to identify the right level of Household Waste Recycling Centre service for Kent residents at the right cost, and making sure it is fit for purpose and fit for the future.

There are a number of ways to complete the consultation questionnaire:
