The Big Weekend.
Plans are underway to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee next year with a big weekend of celebration on the Green and around the village.
‘We’re planning to work with other local groups to organise events and activities to suit all ages’
‘Suggestions so far include a music event and picnic on the Green, a giant street party with children’s entertainment, a tea dance and an evening of classical music’
Looking for local entertainers
A number of local singers, bands and entertainers are already lined up for the event, and the Parish Council would like to hear from anyone else who would be interested in taking part.

The Parish Council would like your views and suggestions. If you have any ideas or comments, please contact Barbara Dunford by email at barbara.dunford@btopenworld.com, by phone on 07771 821476 or by post to 30 Cross Keys, Bearsted, ME14 4HU

The Parish Council would like to reassure the people of Bearsted and Bearsted Cricket Club that it has absolutely no wish to stop cricket taking place on the village green, in fact quite the contrary. The Council believes that cricket on the green is very much part of our village life and is working hard to put together a new lease which allows cricket to continue to be played but also addresses the needs of local residents and Health and Safety issues relating to activities on the green.
The Council is committed to maintaining the village green as an open space for community use, and welcomes your comments through this forum.
